Because the house that hadn't really been cleaned in over a week (which means more like a couple of weeks) was finally too much to handle.
Because the husband is home on Fall Break and you took off work just so you could all have a little stay-cation.
Because you had a chance to sit on the couch with your little boy and rest.
Because last minute dinner plans with good friends.
Because you're tired from cleaning the house all day and the spontaneous dinner fun.
Because you have probably started to annoy your Facebook and Instagram friends with your daily blog posts.
Because you really are just kind of in the mood to binge watch Netflix instead of stir up the creative writing juices.
That's why you get a post like this. On day 7 (out of 31 days), when you've really given it 6 days of serious mental effort and thoughtfulness. It's the seventh day, and you need some rest (but that's biblical, right?). Luckily you're writing a series on Real Life, and sometimes Real Life looks like this. Unfocused, unplanned, random, and kind of meaningless. It's not any of those things, but sometimes it feels that way. And that's okay.
So you're not giving up, and you're not quitting, and you're not drained of all meaningful topics after only 6 posts. You're just being real, and this is what real looked like today.
We'll start fresh again in the morning.
*This post is part of a 31 day series called Real Life. If this is your first stop along the way, I am so glad you’re here! All of the blog posts in this series will be linked together on the intro/Day 1 page if you are interested in reading more. Click here to be taken to Day One. Thanks for reading!
